Bulgari appoints Mary Katrantzou as creative director of leather goods and accessories
Roman High Jeweler Bulgari has appointed Greek-born designer Mary Katrantzou as its first ever creative director of leather goods and accessories.
The announcement pushes the boundaries of creativity and craftsmanship and marks a new chapter in the evolution of the 140-year journey of the historic luxury jeweler.
Katrantzou has a deep connection to Bulgari as its founder, Sotirio Bulgari was Greek. In 2019, the jewelry brand lent out pieces for her show at the Temple of Poseidon in Athens while two years later in 2021, she was invited to design pieces on a capsule collection.
In her new role Katrantzou, will lead the creative vision behind Bulgari’s leather goods and accessories, and will create a range of products such as unique high jewelry pieces and everyday accessories like bags and clutches. She will shuttle between Bulgari’s ateliers in Florence and offices in Rome and will also continue to work on her own brand headquartered in London.

I’ve always been inspired by the design codes and syncretism of Bvlgari, its mastery of colors and the depth of narrative. I’m deeply honored to be the first Creative Director of Bvlgari Leather Goods and Accessories, leading the creative vision for this new chapter and elevating everyday life into a form of art,’ Katrantzou said in a statement.

Katrantzou’s debut collection of leather goods and accessories for Bvlgari will be available in Bvlgari boutiques worldwide from August 2024.
