Cara Delevingne has bagged her first solo Vogue cover.

The 22 year old multi-hyphenate graces the July 2015 issue of American Vogue. Her previous two Vogue covers were September 2014’s Instagirls which she shared with Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss, and the April issue of Vogue U.K. earlier this year which she fronted with BFFs Suki Waterhouse and Georgia May Jagger. The issue is notable and has everyone talking about not for the fact that its her first solo for the fashion bible but mostly for the lengthy cover story being her most revealing interview to date.

Photographed by Patrick Demarchelier and styled by Tonne Goodman, Cara looks absolutely flawless on the cover sporting a maroon Prada dress with her signature bushy eyebrows as she faces the lens. For the rest of the images from the editorial she sports colorful embellishments and also poses alongside her ‘Paper Towns’ co-star Nat Wolff.

Divulging on topics she’s never been open to discussing with the public, Delevingne opens up to Vogue about her childhood, why modeling just isn’t enough and her sexuality.

‘I’m not sure I understand what fashion is anymore,’ she says on making the move from fashion to acting. ‘I admit I was terrified to leave. I mean, the bubble gives you a kind of dysfunctional family. When you’re in it, you get it. And the second you’re out of it, you’re like, What the hell just happened?. The thrill of acting is making a character real. Modelling is the opposite of real. It’s being fake in front of the camera’ she continues.

Speaking of her painful teenage years she admits not having an easy childhood with her mother (Pandora) struggling with an addiction to heroin. ‘You grow up too quickly because you’re parenting your parents. My mother’s an amazingly strong person with a huge heart, and I adore her. But it’s not something you get better from, I don’t think. I know there are people who have stopped and are fine now, but not in my circumstance. She’s still struggling.’

Confirming her relationship with singer St. Vincent, who she has been linked with since December 2014 Cara tells the publication, ‘I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days, and for those words to come out of my mouth is actually a miracle.’ She also added that she was confused by her sexuality growing up, and the thought of being gay “frightened” her. ‘It took me a long time to accept the idea, until I first fell in love with a girl at 20 and recognized that I had to accept it.’ she explained.

With her parents believing her relationship with women may be just a phase Cara adds that she hasn’t sworn off men just yet…. ‘The thing is if I ever found a guy I could fall in love with, I’d want to marry him and have his children. And that scares me to death because I think I’m a whole bunch of crazy, and I always worry that a guy will walk away once he really, truly knows me.’ she says.
