Romeo Beckham is the new star of Burberry campaign
David and Victoria Beckham’s 10-year-old son, Romeo Beckham has been named as the latest star of Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2013 campaign and he’ll be co-starring alongside Eddie Campbell and Cara Delevingne.
Rumour has it that Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer, Christopher Bailey handpicked him personally to star in the campaign. Two things here that needs paying attention to. If you want a winning campaign, you must pick the right face to bring the line forward and the next, which seems to be the actual trend these days, is to pick a high-profile celebs son or daughter to front the campaign and you’ve got the attention you need. The most recent celebrity tots who have grabbed the headlines are Anja Mazur, Alessandra Ambrosio’s four-year-old daughter, who modeled for London Fog and Dannielynn Birkhead, daughter of the late Anna Nicole Smith, who modeled for the Guess Kids campaign. And now, it is Romeo Beckham’s turn, who looks exceptionally “cute” we must add in the new Burberry campaign. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, folks. With his hair brushed back and wearing a broad cheeky grin, Romeo ‘stole the show’ during the photoshoot according to Mr Bailey. In one shot, he is seen wearing the classic Burberry trench coat and carrying the label’s iconic umbrella and adopting a pose which his famous footballer dad would have been proud of. Underneath his coat, he wore a sedate tailored suit, tie and shiny black shoes but it was the cheeky gap-toothed grin that captured our attention and showed that he was having a great time at the shoot. The campaign was shot by star photographer, Mario Testino, whose extra special touch always makes for a winning campaign.
Mr Bailey has said, “This season’s campaign lights up with the infectious energy of an amazing young cast of old and new Burberry family. We had such fun shooting the campaign and I think that comes through in the images, which really reflect the upbeat spirit of the collection.”
