‘I do feel a responsibility to be an example for young women in general,’ she tells Derek Blasberg of Glamour on being a role model for young girls. ‘That’s what Kode With Karlie is about: supporting girls to try coding even if they’re not interested in being a programmer. If I can inspire one girl to try it, I’ll be happy.’ she concludes.

‘Our friendship is the same as yours and mine,’ she says of BFF Taylor Swift. ‘Many of my closest friends are traveling all the time, so it takes constant effort–texting, FaceTiming–on all ends to maintain close relationships.’

‘Being able to find a balance between your career, outside interests and personal life. My family’s support keeps me going and taking time off to spend with them is what has allowed me to stay driven.’ she tells the magazine.

Karlie also admits that she sometimes feels self-conscious modeling, ‘What’s funny is that I actually feel the most uncomfortable when I’m photographed as myself. I rely on taking on a particular role, like an Oscar de la Renta society swan or a Diane von Furstenberg business lady. I feel more vulnerable when it’s just me up there,’ she said.

And about her endeavors in coding the young entrepreneur reiterates her stand on how coding is necessary to succeed in a digital world (especially for women), ‘There’s a big misconception that coding is strictly mathematical; it’s actually incredibly creative. Code runs everything around us, and young women are so important to defining the future.’
